Do you frequently postpone tasks because you are unsure how to complete them "perfectly"? Do you believe that every job you choose must be completed "perfectly" or it won't get done at all? You may be exhibiting "perfectionist procrastination" in that case.

So many times in our daily lives, we experience perfectionist procrastination putting off or avoiding finishing a task or project because we believe we must do it flawlessly. It leads to a vicious cycle of procrastination where we delay a job out of fear. When your work is incomplete, do you recall that strange sensation in your heart and gut? Exactly, that is what it is.

Fear of failure is a common motivator for perfectionist procrastination. We often believe that if we can't complete a task flawlessly, then we have failed. This can result in self-imposed pressure and irrational demands, which can be overwhelming and encourage avoidance behavior.

How do I get rid of it?

Here are some tips to help you overcome perfectionist procrastination:

????         Tasks should first be divided into smaller, more manageable objectives. By doing this, you'll be able to concentrate on making progress rather than achieving perfection and prevent feelings of overwhelm.

????         Choose the most crucial duties, then start with them. This will assist you in avoiding wasting time on unimportant chores.

????         Recognize that making mistakes is a normal component of learning. Consider errors as chances for learning and development rather than failures.

????         Set limits for your tasks that you can realistically meet, and hold yourself responsible for doing so. You'll be able to remain on task and avoid procrastination by doing this.

????         Recognize your imperfections and be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to make errors and honor your accomplishments, no matter how tiny.

????         Consider consulting a therapist or psychologist if perfectionism is seriously impeding your ability to finish duties or causing you significant anguish. They can aid you in locating and resolving any underlying problems that may be causing your rigidity and delay.
